"Leading a large Probation Area such as Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is challenging. It has a great many strengths, with an excellent reputation in diversity , partnership working and innovation and is well regarded by other criminal justice agencies. We are constantly seeking to improve the way in which we protect the public and reduce re-offending within Hampshire.
Our 5 key aims for 2007 are therefore to:

After 8 years as Chief Officer of Dorset, Barrie Crook became Hampshire Probation Area Chief Officer in the summer of 2005.
Barrie grew up in Southampton, attending King Edward VI school before gaining a degree in Theology from Keble College, Oxford. He started his Probation career in Hampshire at the Cosham (Portsmouth) office. He then trained as a Probation Officer in Nottingham, where he worked for the next 15 years.
In 1991 Barrie became Assistant Chief Officer in Leicestershire, before being appointed as Chief Officer in Dorset in 1997.
